Blog Task 2.

The BBFC.

The website BBFC is somewhere for parents to make sure that their children are not watching films which are too old for them. When looking at this website 'www.bbfc.org.uk' you can find a detailed anaylsis of a film, the good and the bad points too. With this information parents can decided if a film is suitable for their children.

Different Sections:

'U'

- This is for films which are suitable for the younger audience, such as children 4 and over. Here are some of the expectations a 'U' film will require:

- It contains small amounts bad language sometimes none at all (damn and hell)

- Sometimes some Characters might kiss or cuddling

- Might contain small amounts of violence.

'PG'

- This is when parents are suppost to watch a film with their child/children. This is because the film might not be suitable for them to watch on their own.

- It also doesn't contain that much bad language.

- Small amount of language.

'12/12A'

- The 12 mean children 12 and over can watch them. And 12A means that a child under 12 can still watch this in the cinema, as long as a parent is there with them.

'15'

- This means people 15 and over can watch this movie, without having an adult with them.

- More bad language, but still not a lot.

'18'

- This means that this film can only be watched by someone who is 18 and over. Most of these films in the store require ID to prove you are 18.
- More of a chance of there being sexual scenes.

3 Thriller Films:

The Human Centipede (2009)

This film is an '18' which means that no one younger can watch this. I think this is right because it is a Thriller and makes people scared. I dont think anyone younger would be able to sleep at night after watching this. This is because it contains a lot on violence and scenes which would affect even someone who is the right age to watch this.

Friday The 13th (2009)

This film is rated as a  '18'. I think this is a good thing because it contains so sexual scenes and it also contains a lot of bad language. Therefore, i do not think it is suitable for younger ages because it might frighten them to much, so much that they cant sleep at night which horror films are meant to do. Also horror films are made to make people jump and to sometimes leave an impact on the person life. For younger children this could scar them for them for the rest of there lives.

Devil (2010)

This film is rated as a '15'. I can see why this has been rated so low is because it doesnt contain a lot of violence, but enough to make someone jump. It also contains bad language, but appart from that this film is more of a Mystery/Thriller. This is because it does have a unusual ending something that you would exspect to happen.

My Opinion:
I think that having a rating is a good thing because you know whether someone will be able to cope whilst watching this film. Another reason why i think it is good is because it is meant to be there to stop people watching something they shouldn't be watching. The bad thing about having a rating is because people still go against the warnings. Everybody does it, evn i have done it. This is because we want something which will make us jump more and sometimes we want to be scared.
