The Happening – Without The Table:

The Happening – Without The Table:

When I look at my results using my table I can see that there is a lot of things which are needed to make up a movie, and from looking at my table I can see that the film ‘The Happening’ is the same as any other film.

The first thing I notice about the table and the film too, is the genre. I noticed that it is more of a thriller with a little bit of action on top. How this helps make the tension rise, is by adding a Non Digetic sound to the trailer. The sound is spooky and mysterious and because of this it puts people on the edge of their seats, like they don’t know what might be happening next. The way the music rises it like its hooking itself to you and will not let go.

Another thing I noticed about this film was the different sound which was either placed on top, which is a Non Digetic sound. And then there are the sounds which are recorded with the film, when you here the scream in the very beginning I think that this is a Non Digetic sound this is because it seems to posed and also that it fits the timeline of how everything happenings. Also if It was a proper scream the girl would have reacted differently, she would have been more shocked and worried about where the scream came from where as in the film it looks planned and not natural.

There are many different Denotations that I can see, but I am only going to pick one to explain. The one that I am going to talk about is that most of the people have fear in there eyes and I can defiantly feel there pain. This makes peoples tension rise because it makes people feel like they are really there and that it could happen to them at any moment. It is a personal view shot which means that it makes them feel like they are also in the movie and this is a good affect that thriller films make. Something that I can connote is that something painful and scary might happen, but I don’t know when. This again makes peoples tension rise because it makes people feel like they are on the edge of their seats, and also because you don’t know when it is going to happen, when it does happen it makes more of an effect when something does and it hits them more then it would normally.

The Mise-en-scene of the film is spooky and it also mysterious. The scene of the film has a big impact on the film this s because most of the scenes are isolated and this makes people watching the film feel more alone and venerable. Which makes the tension rise because they want to turn the film of but because of the music in the very beginning they are hooked, and can not get out of the trace, like they are being held against their will. One of the scenes when they are walking to the abandoned house, it’s all alone. Like no one is living it makes it feel deadly like something terrible might have happened here. Because it is all on its own and there are no other houses around it makes things feel more unnatural.

The audience for this film I would say is probably more for the older children, this is because you see violence and pain which people are suffering from. I think this is a good film because it makes you realise just what things could happen to the world, and that sometimes you cant help what happens, that nature sometimes has a way of taking back control on things that have already happen.
